Dinner at the Airlie Center

Last night Mike and I enjoyed a fancy evening out at the Airlie Center in Warrenton, VA. The purpose of the evening was to celebrate the end of Mike's MS MIT Grad School Program thru UVA, the professors, students and their spouses all came for a final horah, or Wahoo if you bleed blue and orange. The whole evening was very fancy and very fun. Here is a pic of my handsome hubby and I enjoying ourselves.

Rumor has it, that in one of the many extravagent rooms of the house was where Nixon planned Watergate. I snooped around and looked for a plaque or sign of sorts that would prove the rumor but I didn't find any incriminating evidence. I am sticking with that juicy bit of gossip and spreading it. Feel free to do the same.

The food was tantilizing. The presentation was gorgeous and I was glad that I brought along my big camera (some people thought that I brought my camera to take pictures of Mike's school friends, HA! It's only about the food!) The lighting in the dining room was low and was terrible for taking pics, so like the dork that I am, took the prettiest dish (potato wrapped shrimp) out to the terrace to take a picture with natural light. This was like eating a shrimp wrapped with a french fry. Delish.

I hope to blog this week about dishes that I not only eat, but also cook. I have Steak and Goat Cheese Salad, Hand-Made Pizza, and Mushroom & Asparagus Risotto on the menu for this week. We'll see how they turn out.
